Arcadia

Our dream location, during one week, was the summer residence 'Sandy Wood' of Margareth and Lee. Caught between the Lake Michigan beach and Lake Arcadia, it really is an oasis of calm. The name Arcadia is well chosen : in the Greek-Roman culture Arcadia was known as a utopian land of flowers, fruits and woods, clear waters and an eternal summer. In the Judeo-Christian tradition, this became the 'Garden of Eden' or 'Paradise'.

The above description proved to be true during the summer months, but we were told that winters are very hard here, Up North.

During the first weekend of August, the local Lions Club organises the yearly 'Parade', a charity event with a mix of a fair, carnival and a village festival.
